NJ MAP
A publicly accessible, municipally-focused portal that
takes a thematic approach to data visualization. NJ MAP is intended
to serve municipal stakeholders involved in environmental, land use and
sustainability decision making. Intended users include Sustainable
Jersey Green Teams, municipal planning boards, environmental commissions,
land trusts, watershed organizations and concerned citizens among
others. The NJ MAP vision is to make statewide GIS data relatable
and easy to understand at the local level.
NJ MAP - Land Use Change 1986-2012
Documents land use and urbanization at the municipal and state level.
For each municipality maps, graphs and animations show:
- how land use has changed
- the amount and location of agricultural and forested lands
converted to urban uses
Statewide and municipal data can be downloaded.
NJ MAP - Buildout Tool
A planning tool which shows the possible buildout under curent zoning.
Users can also make changes to existing zoning and see what effect those
changes will have on buildout as well as the impact it will have on watersheds.
The Geospatial Research Laboratory (GeoLab) at Rowan University makes

exist. The GeoLab, as creator of NJ MAP, shall not be held liable for
any errors in the GIS data. The geospatial data contained within this
website is not 100% field verified and so inconsistencies may occur.
This includes errors of omission, commission, errors concerning the
content of the data, and relative and positional accuracy of the data.
Source information used for data may have been collected at different
scales, times or definitions, resulting in inconsistencies among
features represented together on this map.
